He is the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Sampark Foundation, former CEO of HCL Technologies, and currently serves as a senior advisor to HCL Corporation, McKinsey Leadership Institute, and Fortune 1000 companies.
Vineet Nayar is an Indian entrepreneur and business executive known for his contributions to the IT industry and his innovative approach to leadership. He gained prominence as the former CEO of HCL Technologies, a leading global IT services company based in India.
Nayar is best known for implementing a unique management philosophy called "Employees First, Customers Second" during his tenure at HCL Technologies. This philosophy challenged the traditional hierarchical structure of organisations and placed a greater emphasis on empowering and engaging employees.
He has also served as governor of ICT, a member of the global advisory board of Women Leaders and Gender Parity Program as well as a community partner of the Forum of Young Global Leaders at the World Economic Forum.
In 2005, Vineet co-founded Sampark Foundation with his wife Anupama Nayar which focuses on innovation-led large-scale social change.
Today, this foundation is improving the learning outcomes of 10 million children in 84,000 schools across Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, and Uttar Pradesh, making it one of the world's largest primary school reform efforts led by a foundation.
Vineet is the author of the critically acclaimed management book Employees First, Customers Second: Turning Conventional Management Upside Down which has sold 100,000+ copies and has been praised by some of the world’s leading business leaders including the late C.K. Prahalad, Tom Peters, Gary Hamel, Victor Fung, and actor Ram Charan.
Vineet currently serves as a senior advisor to the McKinsey Leadership Institute, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and is on the advisory panel of the Global Talent Competitiveness Index established by INSEAD.
He is a member of NPC Tech Platform, National Focus Group, Ministry of Education, Government of India.
Vineet's drastic makeover has received so much appreciation that HCL's revolutionary management methods are now taught as a case study at both Harvard Business School and London Business School.He is also a founding member of Brookings India and has been a juror of Harvard Business Review’s prestigious McKinsey Prize, for two years in a row.
